Day Five, June 9th

Sitting in the breakfast room of the Malborough Hotel, planning the day. We are going to go tour around Winnipeg for a few hours and then head to Riding Mountain National Park. It's only a three hour drive so we're hoping to get a trail ride or a kayak in when we get there!

9:00pm - Elephant and Castle Pub

Stopped in at a local pub to sample some Manitoba beer and witnessed an impromptu didgereedoo (sp?!) solo. Only in Winnipeg.

2:00pm - Speeding Ticket.

Whoops. Thankfully, the cop took pity on us and REALLY reduced the fine. People in Ignace are nice, or so it would seem.

12:20pm - Bear!

We saw our first four legged bear today, he seemed quite used to the paparazzi and we're pretty sure he was putting on a show for the camera!

12:00pm - Lunch

We stopped for lunch today in Igance (pop. 1,500). There was only one restaurant in the town so it wasn't tough to choose where we were headed! It actually turned out to be a really delicious diner that has been around for over 20 years. The burger and club sandwich were delicious and the service was super nice.

It also gave us a chance to read the local newspaper and check out what is 'important' in a small town - lots of arson, public intoxication and pellet gun complaints... Despite the interesting newspaper headings we actually really liked our lunch in Ignace.

10:05 - Fourth Moose Sighting

This guy was tucked quite far off the road but was easy to spot because he was absolutely huge - by far the biggest one we have seen so far.

11:00am becomes 10:00am

This morning we passed through our first time zone, which was a nice indicator that Ontario might be ending sometime in the near future - this province is absolutely huge! We feel like we have been driving through it forever...
